Meet Helene

Founder & Principle WOO (Wise Old Owl)

Helene Johnson is the founder and principal of Next Wave Workforce Consulting™. She is committed to helping businesses optimize their workforce by recognizing and leveraging the unique value of seasoned employees. With a focus on engaging and empowering talent across generations, Helene advocates for a collaborative approach where institutional knowledge and emerging technologies intersect. She promotes cross-generational mentoring, encouraging early- and mid-career professionals to support seasoned employees in adopting new technologies while experienced workers share invaluable institutional and customer insights. By fostering mutual growth, Helene is dedicated to helping organizations preserve expertise, drive innovation, and ensure employees of all ages have the confidence to shape their own career paths.

Before forming Next Wave Workforce Consulting™, Helene worked in IT for 45 years. She held many executive roles and founded for-profit and not-for-profit companies. Her expertise was in helping businesses that support the federal government grow from a technology, marketing, and branding perspective.

Helene is a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) candidate at the University of South Florida and will complete her degree in 2026. Her dissertation is titled Leveraging the Power of the Entire Workforce. She holds a Master of Science in Organizational Change from Johns Hopkins University and a Data Processing degree from the University of Baltimore.

Helene and her husband are 'snowbirds' who split their time between Bradenton, Florida, and Ashburn, Virginia. When she is not working, doing schoolwork, or visiting her grandchildren, she can be found on the golf course.
