Meet Helene

Founder & Principal Consultant

Helene Johnson is our founder and principal for Next Wave Workforce Consulting. In this role, she focuses on the relationship between IA and the workforce. She is passionate about helping workers of all ages determine what's next in their careers. She strongly advocates for cross-generational mentoring, promoting the early and mid-career professional to mentor the older worker in technology while the older worker shares institutional and customer knowledge with their younger peers—all while leveraging the power of AI. Helene believes that everyone should be in control of their career and timeline.

Before forming Next Wave Workforce Consulting, Helene worked in IT for 45 years. She held many executive roles and founded for-profit and not-for-profit companies. Her expertise was in helping businesses that support the federal government grow from a technology, marketing, and branding perspective.

Helene is a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) candidate at the University of South Florida and will complete her degree in 2026. Her dissertation is focused on AI in the Workforce. She holds a Master of Science in Organizational Change from Johns Hopkins University and a Data Processing degree from the University of Baltimore.

Helene and her husband are 'snowbirds' who split their time between Bradenton, Florida, and Ashburn, Virginia. When she is not working, doing schoolwork, or visiting her grandchildren, she can be found on the golf course.
